I have had several cheaper ice cream freezers, but this White Mountain ice cream freezer is the best. First of all, the paddles rotate against the outer edge of the canister, allowing better mixing of the ice cream while freezing. This definitely speeds up the process. The motor is much stronger and quieter than others I've had previously. This item is well worth the higher price. Nothing beats homemade ice cream on a hot summer day.

I purchased the F69204 for $150 on sale. Used once that year with good results. It was another year before I tried to use again. Shortly after starting the motor, it froze up and quit. On disassembly I found that roller bearings are not used in the motor, instead an oil soaked felt type bearing that failed. The parts book said you could order the motor alone,but when I attempted this I was told you had to order the complete motorizing unit for a cost of $90 plus shipping. In the future I will stick with the cheaper middle grade units that I have had excellent results with and are cheap enough to discard and buy an new one if they fail.

We purchased the White Mountain and we are pleased with its performance. We had a 3 gallon White Mountain when I was a child. We have had this in our family for over 60 years and it still works if you can find the kids to crank it. For this reason I just had to have a White Mountain of my own. We love it. It is like having a piece of history. I think of my childhood each time I use it.

I have only used the ice cream maker once, but it seemed to work fine. However, I ended up with very runny, soupy ice cream. That may be due to other factors.

I read alot of great reviews about the White Mountain Freezer so i decided to purchase it . I was a little skeptical about it making ice cream in 20 minutes because it takes the cheap ice cream freezers FOREVER to make and it still doesn't turn out that great. I was totally amazed at having 6 quarts of ice cream to eat in JUST 20 MINUTES!!! WOW!! The ice cream freezer is a little noisy when making the ice cream but worth it.. It definitely has the motor power. I wish i hadn't waited so long to purchase one .I think it is very important to read the directions for first time use.. I used the White Mountain ice cream recipe for 6 quarts and soaked the wood bucket and everything turned out great . The creamest ice cream ever. It was worth every penny of $141.00 that i paid for the freezer!! If you don't have one and you love ice cream this is a great freezer...

We bought a 4 quart White Mountain hand crank churn in about 1975 so it is 30 years old. It is still in top shape and I think the critical thing is taking good care of them. After use you need to rinse them well, dry them and even spray some WD-40 or cooking oil on the metal bands and other outer metal spots that might corrode. These are very nice machines so worth this bit of upkeep!

Simply put, an awesome churn for home-made ice cream. I have an old hand-crank that I had always used to make the best ice cream, but it was a lot of work - churning fast at the beginning and then slowing down as the cream transformed. With this churn, the motor is variable in its speed and churns at an excellent fast speed to begin; then, as the cream solidifies and freezes, the motor changes pitch and slows down to give you a wonderfully whipped and smooth cream. I even made ice cream using just whole milk and peppermint sticks and it still turned out great. Highly recommended and much better than any other electric churn you can buy. I've had two other electric churns - neither of them could hold a candle to the White Mountain.

My mother gave us our Rival F69204 Electric White Mountain Ice Cream Freezer, which worked well for three seasons. Yesterday, I made a batch of frozen custard for company for dinner. The result was terribly salty and had to be thrown out. I filled the stainless steel container with water, which seeped out overnight. Apparently ice cream salt bled into the custard mix while the ice cream was making. Online, I discovered (1) that Mother paid much too much for this item and (2) there seemed no way to order replacement parts--as in a new tank. Can you help?

First and foremost, the White Mountain Ice Cream Freezer works great. It reinforced my opinion that the "old fashioned" way to make ice cream is superior to the modern easy freezers. It delivered that delicious ice cream I remember as a child without the sore shoulders.

I hestitated after reading some reviews, but bought this machine anyway and I love it! Using the Ben & Jerry's cookbook (with super easy recipies) this machine makes creamy, wonderful ice cream in 15 minutes. Dealing with rock salt was easy---three inches of ice then a layer of salt (kind of like making a triffle). I love it so much we bought a second one for our second home. My son thinks this is just the greatest fun and it has brought back good memories for all the grandparents.

I would nicely like to disagree with the review above. We have two ice cream makers and if you take care of them properly they will last forever. We have had one for over 15 years and the bucket is still good. All that need to be done is for the bucket to be washed out after use. I recommend this great product!

Got one of these ice cream churns a long time ago, and it was great... until the bucket fell apart. The bucket is wooden held together with bands that can corrode, so the salt you add to the ice ends up destroying the bucket in a few years. I haven't been able to find a replacement bucket, either. Makes great ice cream, though.
