I bought this Waring blender (PBB201) to replace a Kitchen Aid that I just bought a year and a half ago. The on/off button on the Kitchen Aid NEVER worked right, but the box it came in was destroyed, so I kept it. This Waring is sooo much better than the Kitchen Aid was (and I love Kitchen Aid products!) You can put big chunks of food in there or whole ice cubes and it'll whirr them up in no time! The On/Off switch is ONE toggle switch that runs Lo, if you go to the first notch and Hi, if you go up the rest of the way .....THE END!!! No pulse, cream, frappe, liquify, etc. buttons. Waring gives the customer enough credit to figure out when what they have been mixing up in that glass jar is DONE! This product is reminiscent of days gone by, where the products you bought were well-made and simple to use.....in two words: THEY WORKED!!!! They didn't "choice" you to death with a million doo-dads and buttons that you never used, anyway!!! Worrying about the price? It is SOOOO worth the price. This blender is enjoyable to use and very easy to clean, too. I expect to be using this blender for YEARS to come! Hooray for Waring, for staying simple, elegant and showing us how good "the good ol' days" really were!

->Compare Waring PBB25 Professional Bar Blender, Black and Stainless Steel

I've gone through a few blenders.
I wanted a heavy duty, stainless, unbreakable blender.
I've broken glass and plastic canisters (plus plastic canisters are hard to clean)
and I've burned out motors. I didn't want a lot of fancy features.
I just wanted a rock solid blender with an on-off switch.
The Waring PBB25 is smooth; built well; tough; easy to clean; and it looks good.
It's not cheap, but you get what you pay for.
I think the price is fair for what you get.

I also tried an Oster with an optional stainless canister.
Not bad, but the Waring is better.

->Compare Waring PBB25 Professional Bar Blender, Black and Stainless Steel

I think this blender has worked very well with the exception that after three continuous minutes of use it begins to smell as though the motor is having a difficult time. It still works thereafter though. I am very proud of the work it has done. I bought 2 blenders before this one and I had to discard both because after each were used [I think durabrand ($10)and Oster ($40)] they smelled also badly as if the motor was over used. Though I only used them to make smoothies(peanut butter, ice, bananas, milk, and whey protein). I think the motor from those both could not handle the ice. Don't spend your money on a cheap blender if you plan on using it continuously. I like the waring brand, and though sometimes I think I'm pushing it to the limits, it still works for my family just fine. I'd give it a good review. I don't know (or have the money) to see if there are betters out there.

I'd been thinking about buying a blender for making smoothies, milkshakes etc. for ages but instead made do with the ordinary blenders made exclusively for the home. In short, those blenders have been utterly disappointing because they don't crush ice, feel too 'plastic-ky' and never produce good drinks.

So, after reading the glowing reviews for Waring blenders, I decided to take the plunge and buy one. I bought the commercial bar blender with the stainless steel canister (I guess I was worried that the traditional glass one might crack, even if others insist that it won't). It seems expensive, but once you buy this you'll be wondering why you ever settled for anything less! It crushes ice like a dream and I can turn out superb drinks (no lumps!). It's extremely easy to use and so easy to clean. I make breakfast smoothies every day now!

Review: Not for the daily maker of multiple frozen smoothies.
by: K. Massey on date: April 21, 2007

->Price Waring PBB25 Professional Bar Blender, Black and Stainless Steel

Using frozen fruit to make up to 4 smoothies every day, our family is hard on blenders. After more than a year of daily experience with the Waring Pro (both MBB* & PBB* models) I cannot recommend them for serious smoothing making. Here's why:

Both glass- & stainless-jug models use the same blade assembly. This blade assembly wears poorly when asked to blend frozen fruit. It fails often, and must be rebuilt or replaced. Parts are easily purchased if you're handy and have the correct tools. DETAILS: The assembly screws together, and is threaded to tighten under use rather than loosen and fall apart. But this tightening action is so great when the blade contacts frozen fruit, that it bends the metal washer below the blade. The assembly eventually becomes so tight that the shaft cannot turn.

The Waring Pro is all the blender than many people will need, but is not sufficient for the daily maker of multiple smoothies.

->For Sale Waring PBB25 Professional Bar Blender, Black and Stainless Steel

Overall this is an excellent blender. It's well crafted and sturdy, made of metal and glass. I had a cheap Hamilton Beach in college and it just didn't cut it. I had leakage all the time with the HB blender and the 9 million speeds it had were worthless. As other reviewers here have said you only really need the Waring's low and high speeds. That's it. Seriously.

This blender has only a few pieces and it works so well. I've used it many times to make frozen drinks, smoothies, milkshakes, etc. People have also complained they've had problems with ice. If you fill the blender with the liquids, soft foods, etc on the bottom and add ice cubes little by little at the top it pulverizes the mixture like no other. My girlfriend likes her drinks with little chunks of ice and I like them smooth. The Waring caters to us both.

It's easy to clean if you follow the instructions. Think about this: although it's higher priced than other blenders out there, it's an investment. Do you want to keep re-buying the same kitchen appliance many times or do you want to buy it once? There's a reason why Waring decided to bring back the classic beehive design that our Grandparents used. It's because it works--if you don't believe me then look at the tight spiral that the class carafe and metal blades create with your drink. Just peer over the top of the unit while it's on. Quite a show! This blender is slick.

So far so good with this blender. My only gripe is that is doesn't seem to crush all the ice. There's always a little piece left in the bottom. I jiggle the container, turn up the speed then back down but that ice sliver won't blend.

Aside from that issue, the blender is working well.

->Deal Waring PBB25 Professional Bar Blender, Black and Stainless Steel

One of the hardests task you can ever give to a blender is to have it mix frozen drinks, and after a few tries you learn some things: the smell of a burning motor and the need for a durable blender. Most frozen drinks use ice near room temperature as their primary ingredient. Grind this ice requires a very strong motor, durable blades, and a little knowledge. Waring professional or commercial line Waring blenders will have no problems with preparing frozen drinks which is about as daunting a task as blenders get. Don't be put off by the fact the professional blenders don't have a trillion speeds from ticklish to extreme whirring, you don't need them. I have yet to have any problems with this blender from the day I bought it and I can easily say it's the best blender I've ever used.

P.S. If the free bar tool rebate is still around remember to keep the box.

->Prices Waring PBB25 Professional Bar Blender, Black and Stainless Steel

My Grandmother had a Waring Blendor. My Mother had a Waring Blendor. Why did I have to BUY one instead of "borrowing" one of theirs? Because they gave them away to get "lighter", i.e., cheap, plastic blenders, back in the early eighties. Big mistake. My grandmother died before she had to replace hers, but my mother is on her third cheap blender now. I expect my Waring Blendor to last the rest of my life. Fortunately, I was able to get my grandmother's Waring Blendor Cookbook from the forties. The current model still has the powerful motor, heavy glass container, super-duper cord and top-quality switch that my grandmother's had, sixty-odd years ago.
I also picked up one at Goodwill to have an extra pitcher to make two kinds of frozen drinks when I have a party. It is about forty years old but still works great, and it was obviously used quite a bit. (I only wish I had found it before I bought a new one!) The container still fits the base on the current model.

Makes fruit juice like a juicer, makes the best milk shakes, daquiries, gazpacho; it can even whip cream for dessert or froth milk for fancy coffee drinks! You can make a thick, creamy milkshake with milk, a frozen banana, a couple of ice cubes, and a little chocolate powder. You can even pre-chill the container in the freezer to make sorbet.

The secret difference: this Blendor creates a tornado in the center of the container, ensuring that everything gets evenly mixed. According to my Waring Blendor Cookbook, this is because of the unique four-leaf clover shape of the container, the shape of the no-rust stainless blades, and the high-powered motor.

You can use a wooden spoon through the hole in the top to make sure ice cubes get properly mixed if you find that to be a problem. (If you add ice cubes one or two at a time to the container with liquid already in blending on high, you will have the smoothest frozen beverage you have ever had with NO leftover ice chunks.)

The easiest way to clean it is to fill it 1/4 to 1/3 full of water, add ONE drop of dishwashing detergent, PUT THE LID ON, blend, shake and rinse.

Sure, it is a little loud (brings back memories of my childhood!) and if you drop the glass container on your foot, you'll be sorry, for your foot, because the container probably will never break. Notice that none of the Waring Blendor's detractors suggest an alternative.

If it isn't in the MOMA collection of Twentieth Century Industrial Design, it should be.

Buy a Waring Blendor and you'll never have to buy another blender. And neither will your children.

I bought this blender to replace a $35 Oster that died. It was definitely worth the money. There is a huge difference in quality. It can make restaurant quality frozen margaritas in about 10 seconds. The pitcher is smaller than my old Oster which could be a problem if you want to make more than 2 drinks at a time. This is why I only gave it 4 stars. When shopping for this blender it bothered me that the blender only has 2 speeds but I found that it doesn't matter. I would recommend this blender.

I received this blender three weeks ago. I was desperate to find a blender for which I wouldn't have to replace the blade assembly every three months and mop up a mess every time I used the blender (from things leaking out under the blender).

This blender fits the bill. It has no problem crushing the ice from bottled water we use. No more choking on chunks of ice in my protein smoothies.

It is no louder than the 10-speed Hamilton Beach that I bought six months ago (and replaced three blades in). It's a blender. It makes some noise, but at least this one works like it should.

Like many other reviewers here on Amazon, my Kitchenaid blender's rubber drive teeth broke off after less than 2 years use. It wasn't that great anyway, as it often left large chunks of ice or fruit in the drink, even if left running for a couple of minutes.

The Waring, on the other hand, will liquify ice and fruit even when the carafe is almost full. Makes very smooth smoothies and marguaritas in seconds. Sounds like a portable jet engine, but unless you're running the bar at a party, you won't need hearing protection.

The downside, you cant see what you blending or how well mixed it is. The metal carafe is very durable, but I wish it had a pyrex or glass one instead.
The lack of more speed settings is also a bit irksome... but pulsing can obtain the same results.

This is a handsome product and is undoubtedly a good blender, but it should be noted that it is considerably smaller than most blenders. It also grinds up large cubes of ice and doesn't leave any chunks like those cheap Wal-Mart blenders; just make sure you add the cubes one at a time. My only complaint about this blender is the 32oz capacity. Not ideal for making a large quantity of daquiri for a party. Great for making a small quantity, though.

I decided I needed to change my original review of this blender, as I ended up having to send it back. First the blade broke after having it a short time; then the motor began acting up. I elected not to get another like it, since it didn't hold up very well. I was terribly disappointed, especially because of the price and the fact that it was supposed to be professional grade. It could be that I just got a "lemon," but as you can imagine, I'm soured on this particular model now and don't want another one like it. Note that Waring told me they do NOT recommend using frozen fruit in this blender (and I didn't) -- so if you want to use it for smoothies (I didn't), then get a smoothie maker instead. Waring needs to do a redesign on the blades. I was surprised at how thin and tiny they are. This is supposed to be a professional bar blender, which should hold up to a lot of abuse. Well, after using it 10 times daily for two months, low and behold one of the blades broke clean off. Luckily, I happened to look in the bottom of the carafe before serving the drink to my husband, or he would have swallowed the broken blade! After paying ...for this blender, I was not amused, as you can imagine. When I called Waring, the best they could offer me was a new blade, which they did send out to me at no charge. They said they would install it for us if we wanted to send the blender in, but said that we could easily install it ourselves. Well, we got it on there, but I don't know about "easy." It's tough to get your hand down inside the carafe to reach it. I do use ice in the shakes I make, but have been very careful about adding one at a time. In fact, I even bought a special ice tray that makes really small cubes, just so it would be easier on the blender -- and the blade still broke. I really don't feel I can recommend this blender after my experience with it.

Like others, we've gone through many a blender in a despairingly short time, just trying to make smoothies with semi-thawed frozen banana chunks. This is the only blender that has been able to handle the workload without committing small-appliance suicide. We still partly thaw the frozen bananas before putting them in the blender (once bitten, twice shy!), but this blender does a great job, and it's gotten a lot of heavy use in the 9+ months we've owned it. It's attractive (if you're into the aesthetics of such things) and it's heavy, so it doesn't stroll across the countertop as it makes your beverage. Clean up is relatively easy, but you're well advised to clean it immediately as its moving parts don't disassemble. My only quasi-complaints are that it seems louder than other blenders, and the clear plastic cap that fits into the center of the lid developed a mysterious crack about 6 months after we bought it. But all in all, we've been pleased with this purchase, and it's performed much better than any other blender we've owned.

Last month the motor seemed to lose power and the kitchen started to smell like smoldering rubber near the blender. At the time I bought it the price was $149 (copper color model). And boy does this blender look good. Our biggest decision was not the price but selecting the color. Should we go with Deja Blue...Retro Green...Chili Red or traditional Stainless Stell? (We went with the Chili Red and don't regret it) This blender is solid, over eight pounds and is truly multidimensional. It is a tad loud but on the occasions we have company and use this fine product...the music and laughter drowns the sound. ->Deals Waring PBB25 Professional Bar Blender, Black and Stainless Steel

I've long been interested in having a really great blender. Something that will crush ice, puree soup, make smoothies for breakfast or snacks and of course blend up a nice margarita. :)

I looked at dozens of blenders, and finally chose the Waring bar model in stainless based on design, other reviews and power. The metal jar was also very important. I have always been afraid of breaking the glass on other blenders I have owned, and in fact have broken one.

This blender is just lovely. It is loud, but because it is so powerful and simply *works*, you don't have to run it very long anyway. There are no plastic buttons to get sticky and goopy. One *metal* switch and two settings are plenty.

Rather than the "turn to lock the jar in" method that most blenders use, this one drops in. You can't do it "wrong" -- it just won't go in if you have the canister turned the wrong way. The jar, which does need to be held steady with one hand, never kicks or bucks when crushing ice. You never feel like the machine is going to burn up or fly off the counter. And when you're done, you just grab the handle and lift it off, without fighting the locking mechanism -- because it doesn't have one.

The simplicity of design and use is a very big part of why I love this blender, but the fact that it's metal is a huge plus. It keeps the drinks cold, it washes out *very* easily, even when doing hot stuff that would instantly stick to the glass jars of most blenders.

My blender has never failed, never struggled, never even broken a sweat while performing any task I ask it to. It looks good, cleans easily and is easy to use. What more does anyone need in a blender? I can't think of a thing.

With family visiting for the holiday season and a burning desire for smoothies all round, I needed a good solid blender that would deal with ice, lots of fruit, Dacquiri-making and even soup blending without fuss. I ordered the Waring after a positive experience with one of their juicers, and seeing the good reviews here at Amazon. I wasn't disappointed - this blender is very well-made, easy to set up and use and has just the right features. Two speeds really is all you need! Ice and heavy fruit chunks are blended quickly and without overloading the powerful motor.

I am glad I ordered the glass jug version over the stainless steel - I prefer to see how the blending is going - and the capacity of the jug is slightly larger too.

I highly recommend this machine. I'm sure it will get a lot of use from me over the next few years!

I came to Amazon to compare blenders and planned on going out to a local store to get one. I read the reviews of the Waring and saw how 90+% of the people loved it. Then I saw that the Chili Red version was a lot cheaper than the other colors, so I figured, what the heck, buy it here and now. So the Chili Red Waring arrives today and I am really wondering if it will chop my ice up. Our previous three cheapo blenders stated they chopped up ice, but never did, so I was skeptical. I opened up the package and couldn't believe that there were only 3 parts, surely something was missing. But looking at the picture on the box, I became convinced it was all there. The heavy glass jar with the built in blade was impressive. I read their manual in a minute, as there was not much to it. I followed the directions for their Orange Julius smoothie and was I surprised. The instructions said to put in 10 ice cubes last, and then to turn it on HI for 2 minutes. Well, in 30 seconds I stopped it and thought, I don't hear any ice clinking around the jar, what's wrong now? I poured it out in my cup and saw no chunks of ice. Was this real? Is that actually possible? In less than 30 seconds it pulverized the ice and made a smoothie. Next time I will add more ice to make it more slushy because it works so darn well. Course time will tell if the motor holds up well, but I have never had a blender handle ice like it was nothing. And at the price for the chili red one, you can't beat it.
***Here it is, 11 months later, October 2003. This blender is still the champ. Chopping up the ice like it did when it was new. It made many pina coladas and margaritas over the summer and never gave me a problem. The price increase is a bit much though, from when I bought it. I can't claim it's a steal anymore, so try to find a color they want to get rid of. Good luck, happy ice chopping!

I have never owned a blender, thinking "how useless an item". But after borrowing a neighbors 3 times, I decided I should get one. The 15 buttons and plastic jugs never impressed me beyond being really cheap. Whats the difference between "Blend" and "Puree" anayway? But this one is a "Manly" blender. Real stainless steel and 1 chrome toggle switch with 3 positions-Off,Low & High. What more does a guy want? I think this thing will grind rocks but don't try it! Also I noticed quite a few Bars have them siting behind the counter happily mixing Margueritas one after another--what better recomendation!

I bought this blender last summer while I was living in Puerto Rico. I needed to make smoothies! In the tropics a pina colada is not drinking...it's survival! :o) The blender worked great for about 4 months, crushing ice, fruit and everything else I put into with ease. Then the blade broke! :o(

I emailed several sources and was contacted by a representative who took my address and mailed me a replacement blender blade. They didn't even charge me! I don't know if that is standard practice, but it sure made my day. :o)

I make smoothies with frozen fruit on a daily basis, and in the summer I also make a lot of daquiris, so a heavy-duty blender is vital to me. Although I've only had this Waring PBB blender for a week, I'm very impressed. It blends frozen bananas better than the KitchenAid Ultra Power 5-speed blender I own, doing the job in just seconds and leaving absolutely no chunks! (I had taken to partially-thawing the fruit for my KitchenAid.) I think that may be because the Waring has a smaller (40 oz) container, although they claim that the cloverleaf shape is also a factor. It crushes ice well, too. I also like the way it looks, although it is VERY yellow. Since I've burned out the motors on two KitchenAids, the 5-year warranty on the Waring motor is a big plus. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this one lasts!

I ran across this set of reviews while searching for a new blender. My Waring which cost serious money was in for repairs twice during warranty and just stopped working for the third time a couple of years after I bought it. I am tossing it in the trash and looking for another brand. We use it mostly for smoothies, using frozen berries, not ice. Made to the consistency of soft sherbert, one would think this not such a challenge for a "commercial blender" that is touted for its ice crushing ability. Perhaps I bought a lemon, but it is adious Waring for me!

Our 16 year old daughter is the kitchen mess-maker of the worst kind. I'm happy to say that this is one blender that has satisfied both of us. Before she would leave blender parts all over after one of her smoothies--now there are no sharp blades or rubber rings for me to fuss about. I love the stainless steel container-much better than glass. Works great and is fairly heavy duty.

Hi. If you're like me, you've killed more than you care to count blenders in your life time. You know that a good margarita requires finely chopped ice without lumps! You've probably cut up a few of those rubber things that come with the other blenders because you put it together wrong. It's embarrasing when your guest sees chopped up grey rubber in their margarita glass. Let's not forget the numerous parts to those other blenders and when your toddler runs off with one of the parts, never to be found again. Well, the Waring PBB25 Professional Bar Blender does away with all those unnecessary complications in your life. I ordered this blender and gave it to myself for christmas. Let me tell you, I love this blender! I love this blender! I love this blender! It's beautiful, it's a single unit with no parts (except for the lid), no rubber thingys, it's powerful, it's affordable, and best of all, it makes the best margaritas, the best chocolate shakes, and the best diet/protein shakes. The only problem is that my five kids love it as well. ;-)

It may seem strange to spend this much on a blender, but this blender can do anything! It crushes ice for drinks very quickly and very easily. The two-speed mechanism is perfect. I mixed drinks for a large party and it was perfect. I highly recommend it!

Oh my goodness! Last year for my 50th birthday, I got the surprise of my life when my gentleman companion, Bruce, gave me this blender in Sunshine Yellow. I tell you, we had the most fun mixing up margaritas for myself and 75 of my closest friends. This baby can mix it up all night long! (Which is more than I can say for old Bruce!) It crushes ice perfectly and is so dependable. I mean who needs a faulty blender when the Bunco club is coming over and there are drinks to be made? My bartender, Rico, won't use any other blender after laying his hands on this one. Besides, who can resist the color?! Enjoy!

The stainless steel jar is a great improvement over glass or plastic. A larger jar would have been better. Also the motor seems to strain when mixing thicker drinks. If you mix small drinks this would be a good choice. However if you entertain a large number of people you'll want a larger jar. Does a good job of crushing ice, but will occasionally leave a few tiny pieces. Overall a good solid blender that's just a little on the small side.

I need a blender for mixing fruit juice, a banana, a peach, a scoop of meal replacement powder (The Ultimate Meal), and most importantly, ice. I drink it after I work out. My old blender chopped ice terribly; I got tired of chewing little ice chunks, and getting "skull freeze" all the time, so I decided to upgrade. I was so glad I got this model, because I don't even notice the ice now. I can truly call my fruit drink a "smoothie". It's so much more delicious and enjoyable. It's also very easy to use, and cleanup is a snap. It costs more than other models, but I say it's well worth it.

This blender has been completely satisfying. It crushes ice consistantly and thoroughly. My smoothies alwalys come out like silk. I use the blender several times a day, and the motor hasn't burned out. The steel adds a unique touch while leaving me fearless of broken glass. And, the warrenty that comes with it is a comfort in the event I have problems with the unit. I highly recommend this product for it's quality, distinctiveness, and dependability.

This is the most powerful blender I've ever owned. Every morning I make a protein drink with frozen strawberries. I can only process this mixture a few seconds so the berries remain in small pieces and the drink isn't completely smooth.Any past blenders I've used had to work hard to incorporate the frozen berries, and I've had to blend the mixture repeatedly. Also I've been known to break glass carafes. There is no danger of this with the stainless steel container. I am extremely happy with the blender and recommend this product to anyone wanting to blend ice with their drinks, make smoothies, etc. I believe this blender will be with me for along time.
