I hadn't bought a food processor in over twenty years ( Cuisinart 20 cup ). Cuisinart's does strive for excellence in quality and this is what brought me back to the brand. My old machine made it through a lot of use almost abuse!
This 14 cup is a perfect size for anyone who does food preparation on a little larger scale such as we need for a family of four. The stainless exterior matches the current kitchen styles in appliances as well.
Easy clean and quick processing are two important factors for me and this machine gets great marks for both. PLenty of power to do the tougher jobs.
This is one of the only products that I have in my home today that I had over twenty years ago.

I just got mine delivered in blue/chrome: the most attractive thing in my brand new blue/maple kitchen - in fact, the most attractive gadget, period. Buying this for us was toss-up with the Viking Pro Series (12c) - beauty, capability, aesthetics; and the Cuisinart just couldn't be beat - esp. with the price. The Cuisinart motor is also more powerful that Viking's (720 vs. 625 watts - and believe me for large cookie/dough/chopping batches, that extra power does come handy). I already had the mini-chopper (DLC-1SS, again in blue-chrome, again v. pretty) a mini-me clone of this mammoth and now the baby-elephant and mama-elephant together have made cooking a breeze! Most of my other gadgets are just sitting pretty in the back of the pantry.
We cook a lot of Indian food and recipes tend to be involved and painfully elaborate - for e.g., I do need to puree chillies, garlic, ginger, or ground fresh cloves, cinnamon - every single day. In that light I would recommend any one considering the 14-cup to definitely look at the smaller one too, as an additional investment - you won't regret it (not good for salsas, but grand for puree). Needless to say, the 14-cup will not, can not, serve you for spoon-full sized portions - did I say it is quite massive? :)
I use the mammoth - to chop larger batches of veggies and in the same bowl, make every day chappati dough, millet dough and less frequent pizza, pasta and bread doughs, and also x.large batches of cookies - I can make 120+ thumb-print cookies in a single batch!! Someone here mentioned that you need a dishwasher to own this processor. While I agree, I also feel compelled to defend, that this machine does save so much clutter and clean-up time - literally - no cutting boards - no kit.work bowls. I could be here all day singing praises for it. In a way, I think of the Custom 14 DFP as a speedy, serenely-supportive, perfectly trained maid! Kudos to the engineering team at Cuisinart that designed this clean-cut smart beauty.

I am very happy with my purchase. It was all I expected and then some. One thing not in the product description that I was very pleased with was the noise level of the prosessor. It was very quiet compared to my old one that always left my ears ringing. It is very fast, mixes efficiently, and the large opening minimizes pre-chopping. The extra large bowl is great, cleans easily. I would highly recommend this product.

This baby is put together with high quality parts...I wouldn't get anything less than this size for it is perfect for just about anything...The blades cut things perfectly and I especially love grating cheese through this machine...Works great !!!
This also has a very strong motor and is quiet enough to keep things peaceful...Does not look like an over-sized food processor...It fits on the counter tops and under the cabinets with plenty of room to spare...It is a great addition to the kitchen and will save you time...Saving time is what life is all about...
I purchased the "Black Chrome" version and it is very stylish and makes this machine look very pricey and elegant...Cuisinart is the KING of food processors !!! Also comes with a very helpful DVD...Nice touch...
Fast shipping even though it went to my old address...Took a bit to recover it, but I did...Amazon was wonderful through the whole process and was there to stand behind me...

I had a Cuisinart Processor for about 30 years and it was my prized possession. This is a newer model and the design has been improved in that the disks of the original were clumsy to store but these have a separate stem that connects so it is much more space efficient. I love the larger bowl - 14 cups and a new safety when putting on the lid. You have to get used to attaching everything right as it will not run when it is not. Blades are sharp and in my opinion the safety is a good thing. I have never found another processor that would chop up onions without pureeing them. The price on Amazon was also great and I see it is about what they get for the 11 cup processor in other stores.

Sadly after 21years, my DLC-7 Superpro cuisinart bid it's last spin on Thanksgiving day mixing the last of my walnut cake. I use my cuisinart for everything.
The new one was the best alternative to the DLC-7 i think. The 14cups is the same as the dlc-7. I made pizza dough with it on saturday night and the dough was perfectly mixed. Everything from dips to cutting all the spinach and fresh herbs for spanakopita make this a delight and chopping onions a pulse for a few seconds and 3 onions are chopped or even one onion.
I just hope this one lasts half as long as the first one.

I am impressed with this food processor. I have only used it twice, but it seems very powerful and well-made. The biggest complaint I have is that when I used the french fry blade (a separate accessory), the potatos repeatedly got caught between the blade and the top of the work bowl (but I may get better at avoiding this with more practice). I love that everything can go in the dishwasher and the enclosed DVD was worth watching (but don't do it on an empty stomach).

This is a great product for use in the kitchen. My husband made his "famous" cheese cake recipe using this item (easier and less mess than with the mixer). Just make sure the components are lined up correctly when you use it. I thought the product was defective 'cause it wouldn't start, but I didn't have the safety pusher top in place. It's really easy to use and this safety feature enables you to be safe when you use it. You can also make cookie or pie dough very quick with this item.

->Comparison Cuisinart DFP-14BCN 14-Cup Food Processor, Brushed Stainless Steel
Every time I think of my shiny new Cuisinart, my heart skips a beat. Is it wrong to love a machine? I'm a cooking enthusiast, and I usually love to come home after work and unwind by cooking a nice dinner. As much passion as I have for cooking, I sometimes feel tired and impatient after a long workday, especially when it takes so long just to prep my ingredients. No longer! In what you'll save in prep time alone, this baby is worth her weight in gold!
I make homemade pizza dough at least once a week, which I had to knead by hand. On a weekend? No problem. During the week? Can get annoying. Just a blitz in the ol' bowl for 60 seconds, and it's ready to rise! Want to top your pizza with sliced leeks? 10 seconds! Wish you had some braised cabbage to go with your salmon? Slices or grates in a snap.
But it's not just the tremendous time-saving capacity that makes this maching a wonderful investment. It is incredibly easy to use, and inspires me to make and try new recipes that seemed too complicated or time-consuming in the past!
It may seem like a big investment, but amazon.com seems to have really great deals on big equipment like this, and in my opinion, it's worth every penny and more.

I have owned mine for 3 or 4 years. It does everything well and I find it easy to use. Mine came with a video tape to demonstrate how to use it that I found very helpful. It has the largest feed tube of any processor for home use, a very powerful motor, and it is big enough to handle almost anything even for a large party. There are a few negatives. I have no trouble using it, but my wife has trouble getting it to do what she wants. It may be that small hands have more difficulty with the safety interlocks? It is also somewhat difficult to clean the feedtube and the bowl because of sharp angles and parts that can't be accessed easily for scrubbing. A dishwasher is almost a prerequisite for anyone considering this machine. If you don't have or want an dishwasher, then buy either the newer Cuisinart design (biggest size is only 11 cups) or the Kitchenaid (not as fast, powerful, or as big) both of which are easier to clean by hand.
There are a few accessories worth considering. A spare bowl allows several options depending on how you cook and how big the crowd is that you are preping for. It can save a lot of time if you don't have to keep stopping to clean the bowl. There is a handy accessory stand available that holds several cutting tools, the mixer blade etc. Since I use mine almost every day, this stand is helpful. Take a look at the cutting tools too. That's about it. Highly recommended.

I have had several smaller cheaper food processors in the past, and wanted something bigger and better, so 10 months ago I took the plunge and spent what is for me a good chunk of money for this Cadillac (or Lexus) of Food Processors. After having owned and it and used it frequently for the last 10 months, I couldn't be happier with my decision. It does everything extremely well, and has held up with no problems of any kind. I use it at least weekly and frequently wash in the dishwasher. The blades are all still very sharp and the large capacity allows me to feed a crowd and simply use it for more frequently. Unlike my other processors, I no longer question whether it is really saving me time vs. doing stuff by hand. It is a real time saver, and I expect it to serve me well for many years.

For years, I had been using a small Cuisinart knock-off. I don't know why I waited this long to get a bigger machine, and this 14-cup Cuisinart is perfect for any size job. Most recently, I made a big batch of apple crisp, and after coring 10 apples, I was able to produce even, thin slices in no time flat. It takes a little getting used to locking/unlocking the unit (3 parts have a certain order), but it's worth that effort. It's quiet and fast and sits handsomely on the countertop.

I bought this for my mother-in-law to use to make meals for her mother who is 90 years old and can no longer wear dentures. It is amazing! "Grandmother" can now eat regular foods just like us. I've pureed everything from hotdogs, to vegetables, to meats, to french fries for her and she really enjoys the food! I've also used it to make homemade whipped cream, cucumber veggie chips (for my dehydrator), banana nut bread, salads, coleslaw, and cheese dip for the rest of us. It shreds a block of cheese in about 30 seconds. The first time I tried to use the machine, it did not work and only by looking at the instructions again, did I realize it was because I had the bowl on backwards. Once I put it on the correct way, it worked fine. I'm happy about the safety features because I had to get stitches a few years ago after cutting my fingers on a handheld blender because I was tired and not paying attention. I like knowing that the cuisinart will not start if I have assembled it incorrectly. Unlike one of the other reviewers, I haven't experienced a "wait time" to use the Cuisinart if I have assembled it incorrectly and have to reassemble it. There is also no worrying about lining anything up correctly. You just have to make sure you have the bowl on with the handle facing the push buttons because otherwise the push top cannot lock in. This is very easy and within a few uses you will immediately recognize which way to assemble the cuisinart. Like the other reviewers said, Keep it out on your kitchen counter and you will use it more often. Cleanup is pretty easy. I've washed it in the dishwasher with no problems. The 14 cup size is perfect for a family of 4 or more, and really even if you are only cooking for 2, this is still a great machine. I like cooking extra food so I have leftovers for later. Fast and Easy! I'm very happy I decided to spend the money. I highly recommend this product.

I'm a professional chef, but I've made do for years with a Black and Decker food processor at home, while using the far sturdier Cuisinart or Robocoup at work. Maybe it wasn't a big deal because I work pretty fast with a knife so I really don't use any food processor very much, but I finally took the plunge and went first class, the Cuisinart. The B&D worked great, and at <$40 bucks 10 years ago, I've gotten more than my money's worth and still felt it had enough life to pass it along to a friend, but just looking at the stainless steel Cuisinart sitting on my counter makes me happy. If it is anywhere near the equal of the model I have at the restaurant, it will last forever, and look good too!

I have never had a food processor before, thinking that they take too much time for the effort involved in using them. Nevertheless, I purchased my Cuisinart 14-cup brushed chrome model DFP-14BC based on recommendations from Amazon, and LOVE it!
It is very, very easy to use. It comes with a DVD which I watched and replayed pertinent sections to make sure that I understood how to use it. There are also recipes on the DVD, but I was watching it just to figure out how to use the appliance and how not to hurt myself.
I like the locking mechanism feature. I have used my Cuisinart 14-cup brushed chrome model DFP-14BC about 10 times. Sometimes when I'd go to use it, it would not engage or turn on---this was because I had done something wrong or unsafe and I was GLAD that it didn't work. I am getting the hang of it and am very glad that it has the level of safety that it does.
I debated between buying this model or an inexpensive ($50 or so) model. I am glad that I purchased the Cuisinart DFP-14BC because it is easy to learn to use, easy to use, easy to clean, and I know that I will have it for a while, as opposed to an inexpensive model that would perform in a limited fashion and then be discarded in a few years.
It looks beautiful on my countertop when I'm not using it. I bought a wicker basket that I keep the attachments in out-of-sight so that the appliance stands on its own as a permanent fixture in my kitchen. It is beautiful, quiet, easy to use, and great for a beginner like me. I am quite pleased with this purchase!

I purchased this a while back to replace a different model that was almost 25 years old . I am so pleased with this purchase. It is everything that I expected it to be and more.
Even though I primarily cook for a two-person household I purchased the 14-cup model. I have not had any problem with the machine being too large to perform the tasks I needed it to handle. The machine is large enough to make white bean dip from one pound of dry white beans without exceeding its capacity. I have also used the machine to make 2 pounds of whole-wheat pasta dough with room to spare. It is also nice to make large batches of base for gazpacho.
I love the size and heft of this machine. It is nice to not be concerned about exceeding the machines capacity or mechanical limit.
I highly recommend this machine to anyone that loves to cook. Once you have it, you will find so many uses for it that you had not anticipated. This machine is used at least 5 days a week in my home.

Well, this is my first real size food processor. I have a stand mixer, but it wasn't doing all the things I needed. I really hesitated in buying the largest size, but I looked at the difference in sizes between the different sizes at Williams Sonoma and found that the 14 cup wasn't going to take up any more space than the 11 cup and not much more space than the 7 cup. Some of the safety features people have complained about here do take some getting used to, so I just suggest you remember if it isn't coming apart...don't pull on the machine and just figure out what you haven't done yet....Easy to wash, pretty, and lighting fast when you need it.

If you are the type of person who believes,as Tim Taylor of Tool Time does, More Power is better. This is the food processor for you. The Cusinart 14BC would probably take a steady diet if tree branches without complaint. This unit needs a dedicated place on the counter top. After moveing this a few times from a storeage cabinet I relented. It could also double as a great boat anchor. Take care handling the chopper blade and disks, they are very sharp. I echo all the positive comments about this item. I purchased this to make baby food and I find it takes a lot of prep time out of everyday tasks like grating cheese, chopping herbs, slicing potatoes (if you're on the carbs!) etc etc. My only complaint...the heavy base and awkward shape make this difficult to store. In addition, the blades are very sharp/dangerous, and it would be more convenient if a blade protector was included with the purchase. ... I ever lived without one!! This unit (brushed stainless 14 cup) was a replacement for the off-brand mini food processor attachment I used to own which fit into my off-brand blender (now also recently replaced with the FANTASTIC Cuisinart CBT-500 Brushed Stainless Power Blender). When I bought the off-brand, I was younger & on a budget, but I should have invested in this model food processor (and the blender) the first time around. What a timesaver!! I just made pie dough, and the recipe which usually takes me several minutes took just a few seconds!! Plus (if you follow the simple directions in the DVD) it slices and grates like a dream!! I don't understand why many other reviewers are bent out of shape about the safety features - I have no trouble at all adding items through the small feed tube while the machine is running, or else stopping processing temporarily to add larger items (won't run without feed-tube attachment in place, so you must pause) - pausing briefly in the middle of a recipe to toss in larger ingriedients shouldn't be that big of a deal, in my opinion. Don't hesitate - buy one today!! This food processor has replaced / outmoded so many other tools in my kitchen already, and I've only had it a couple of weeks!! Leave it on the counter so you remember to use it, and you'll be surprised like I was at all the things it can do for you which you would normally do manually. It has honestly changed the way I cook. =) Oh, and the best part?? Cleanup is a snap - throw ALL the removeable parts into the top rack of the dishwasher!! *wild applause* Thank you, Cuisinart!!

In terms of power and capacity, the Cuisinart DFP-14BC cannot be beat. Once you can actually get it running (more about that later), there's nothing it can't chop, slice, puree or what have you. The 14 cup bowl is huge and unless you are cooking for an army, it should be able to hold all of anything you are making with no problem. It looks very impressive sitting on the counter, and it's such a bonus that you can stick all of the parts in the dishwasher for cleaning with no warping.
All of that being said, this has to be one of the most tempermental pieces of kitchen equipment I have ever owned. In trying to make it safe, the manufacturers have made it really, really annoying to use. First of all, in order to get it running at all, all the parts have to be lined up just so, and I'm not talking about the normal sort of "just so" you would expect with any sort of food processor or blender product. It's not simply a matter of turning the bowl or lid until you hear or feel a "click" and then pressing the "on" button. No, even if you've felt the "click", if you've got something even just 1 millimeter out of place it will not run. To make things even more fun, if you try to press the "on" button too many times in a row with things not lined up just so, the machine automatically shuts off for 5 minutes such that even if you do correct the alignment, you've now got to wait 5 minutes to start it up again. There are times it takes me 10 minutes or more of wrestling with the stupid thing to get it started. When you are pressed for time, this is maddening enough to make you want to chuck the whole thing out the window. Then, there's the matter of the food feeding tube for those occasions when you want to add things when the machine is running. This tube is very small. It's fine if you just need to add a stream of olive oil, but if you need to add chunks of vegetables or something, you need to stop the machine, remove the whole lid, place the items in the bowl, wrestle with the lid to make sure you have lined up just so again, and then restart the machine. Again, maddening when you are trying to get a quick week-night meal on the table in a reasonable amount of time. You know a machine is a pain in the patoot when you start deciding that it would be quicker to chop something by hand than use the food processor.
So, if you have a lot of patience and a lot of time to cook, I would say by all means, get this machine because in terms of raw power, I've never encountered anything that works as well. But if convenience and ease of use are your main concerns, keep looking.

This is the food processor I should have bought the first time. (First was way too small for many jobs and the second was not a good quality brand.) The Cusinart handles all chores admirably with power to spare. Locks functions simply and effectively, allowing quick, safe work without splatters. I don't regret spending money for a quality product.

In 1984 I received my first Cuisinart food processor for Christmas. I signed up for free cooking classes at a local store where it was purchased it. The #1 thing that I learned from the class was to always keep the food processor on the counter where it is handy. I have used it daily for 20 years! Now I would like to upgrade to the new Brushed Stainless Steel. Next I want a matching Cuisinart Coffee Pot! I have always found the people at Cuisinart to be very helpful and have never had any problem contacting them or having them respond to a question. Thank you, Amazon.com for having the best price and an easy site to order from! Jonilyn's a happy cook!

I read the reviews listed here before I purchased my Cuisinart 14-cup food processor from Amazon. Since I have received my processor, I can say that I have had similar experiences as many others have. Yes, it is aggravating that you have to leave the pusher assembly in place while running, having to remove it to add extra ingredients. Yes, it is very aggravating to wash those shredder discs, especially after shredding mozzerella cheese. It took me almost ten minutes to dig all the little gummed-up pieces of cheese out of the nooks and crannies. But it is powerful. Nothing will bogg this thing down. It works like a breeze. I love the large bowl and the large feed shoot. I made my decision to purchase based on the size and the watts. Mine is also very quite, which suprised me. It looks beautiful and massive sitting on the counter. Yes, you will want to leave it out. It is very heavy. But from now on, I'm going to stick the blades in the dishwasher.

When I first put it together I couldn't make it work at all. I figured out the it will absolutely not run with the pusher disengaged.
You don't have to take the pusher off to add food, just take off the lid with the pusher attached to it. Smaller items can be added through the feed tube.

I recieved this for Christmas. I love it, it was so easy to put together and change the parts. I am so glad to have it. Choping is a breeze!

First - Cuisinart has the worst customer support I've encountered lately. If you should need parts for this, and try to order them, you will encounter a slow-as-molassas and confusing website with incorrect photographs and descriptions, persistant backorders, long hold times, and telephone representatives who really don't give a darn.
I am not basing this on a single call I was unsatisfied with, rather a series of them, all with different representatives.
Our unit is used lightly (1-2 times per week to chop potatoes, onions, and the like, but the plastic (lexan?) portions are incredibly fragile. We are not the only ones - the plastic pusher for the item above is backordered SEVEN weeks.
The Kitchen Aid Pro Line is better.

The only thing better than this machine is the Amazon price I paid for it! What a smart investment! The right tools help make cooking a joy and this is a right tool. And on a completely superficial level...it looks good sitting out on the counter. I bought the stainless version and it is good lookin'! So don't worry if you don't have enough cabinet housing. Plus you will NEVER buy store bought pie crust again. This machine gives you perfect pastry every time!

I have a lot of Cuisinarts because I use them to make cosmetic products. However, I can't even get this baby to turn on at all. Safety pusher engaged or whatever. And wouldn't you know it, I've misplaced the instructions and can't get them online at Cuisinart.com. When you click download instructions a 2 page document comes up in Acrobat. Please just help me get it to turn on. My other Cuisinarts are no problem and they require the safety pusher be engaged too. Any ideas? velvetneedles@hawaii.rr.com

This lovely strong machine is driving me nuts. I kept looking for the off/on switch that would allow me to add stuff while operating the maching. No way...safety first has killed a great product. The only way to use this is with the food pusher all the way in any time you turn it on. I did find that an ice pick will also engage the switch and overide this feature. Perhaps this should be standard with the purchase. Otherwise, it is a lovely tool.

Just purchased my first food processor last month. LOVE IT, I've used it for bread, brownies, cookies, meatballs, chopping and slicing carrots, strawberries, potatos, cucumbers, bread for breadcrumbs, & onions. Even made my frosting in it. Been married 15 years this month and wish I would've gotten one 15 years ago. Easy to clean, safe, I even dirty less dishes which is a good thing since I don't have a dishwasher either. Buy one, you won't be sorry. Just be sure to leave it on your counter and use it, even for the simple things, cleanup is a snap.

This is THE food processor!
You can't beat it in the kitchen for just about anything you need to prepare for dinner, lunch, breakfast, or snacks. The first time I used it, it blew me away with the speed and versatility. And QUIET - this thing is super quiet. No more noisy food preps. The first time I made my gourmet potato salad, it knocked 2 hours off my best time - flat!! If I ever need another food processor (which I won't), THIS IS THE ONE. AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!

I received the stainless steel version of this processor as a gift. I have only had it for 2 weeks and I am already discouraged with it. I seems to work fine, however, because of the "safety features" I find it awkward and inefficient. The large sleeve is designed so that you must disengage the lock each time you want to add more food. I can imagine that it will break in a short time if you use it often and this lock is necessary to start the machine. Also, you cannot put any food in the processor that is taller than the pusher because the pusher cannot be removed from the sleeve. If these things don't bother you, you will enjoy it. I haven't had a food processor for about 10 years. My old one had a removeable pusher and was much more convenient than this model.

I Love it! It arrived yesterday, and already I have made cole slaw, cranberry relish, sliced cukes and made all-natural peanut butter.
I am quite mechanically inept, and was surprised to see how easy it is to use. SIMPLE and does a GREAT job.

I absolutely love this food processor. I do a lot of cooking and baking and it has saved me so much time. To grind up an entire box of graham crackers took just a couple of minutes. It shreds vegetables beautifully. I would highly recommend this product. It is well worth the money.

Every kitchen needs a Cuisinart, and after the work bowl of my former much loved 14-cup Cuisinart Food Processor of 20+ years finally gave out, I opted to purchase the new Cuisinart 14-cup brushed chrome model DFP-14BC.
First the aesthetics, this model compliments all my other stainless steel appliances, including my double oven, toaster and microwave, etc. It looks very sleek compared to my former white model. In other words, I'm very pleased with the way it looks.
I use my food processor quite often and shopped around before deciding to choose this particular model. I picked this square-shaped model, similar to my older replaced DLC-7 model, with the two rectangular buttons that `click'. Since my former Cuisinart of like design served me well 20+ years, this design appeared more durable and was less expensive than another Cuisinart rounded model with oval buttons that looked less heavy-duty.
Other than a few modifications to the food pusher assembly, this new DFP-14BC model is virtually identical to my older processor, and just as easy to use. Even better is the fact that my older DLC-7 discs (with detachable stems) also fit this new processor. So far, I've used the metal blade, which worked like a dream, and the shredding and slicing discs that again work with ease and provide excellent results. Additionally, the motor on this new processor is more powerful than my original model and I can't wait to try it on making bread or pizza dough.
For first time food processor users, a demonstration video accompanies this machine and walks you through everything you'll need to know. You'll never make a pie crust again without it!

I just received my DFP-14 and love it. I used to have a hand-me-down no-name food processor that died last year. I had been wanting a new processor, but didn't want to spend the money for the new model Cuisinart. When I saw the price on this, I ordered it immediately. I've already used it 4 times this week, from hummus to pizza to a huge batch of homemade bread. Unbelievable. And dishwasher safe. This huge workbowl can handle anything. Several family members have different brands of food processors, but I've noticed that the ones with Cuisinarts still use them years later, and they work as well as they did on day one. I'd never use another brand. An incredible bargain on one of the best products on the market.
