In my opinion this grill does not get hot enough to do any justice to a steak or hamburger. After preheating the suggested length of time, a 3/4" Delmonico steak took 10 minutes per side to cook to a medium rare stage, leaving only faint grill marks. Hamburgers turned out the same. I called Delonghi customer service and they were not at all helpful. I will not use it again to cook beef. Maybe chicken would fare better.

We were looking for an indoor grill that got hot enough to grill a good steak, chicken or chops. And that's just what we got with this grill!
At first we didn't think it was going to do the job, but from our first steak to ribs...it's great! However, just like cooking on the grill outside, you need the cover on. It does get hot enough for anything you want to cook. Our roasted whole peppers came out fantastic. It takes a bit longer for some veggies than an outdoor grill, but that was fine with us.
We highly recommend this grill for bringing the outdoor cooking inside on those cold days. We're using it all the time.

I bought this grill after reading all the reviews here and elsewhere. This grill works great. I heat it for about 5-10 minutes and it cooks very fast with excellent grill marks. If others have had problems with it getting hot then either they did not let it heat long enough or they got a bad unit and they just need to get a replacement. I have cooked pork steaks and Rib Eye steaks and they come off the grill just like my outdoor grill. I have used other indoor grills and this is by far the best.

I researched indoor grills for months before buying this one. I've had it for four months now and am VERY happy with it. It's easy to use and clean. Thick cuts of meat like steaks don't turn out so well but for boneless chicken breast/thigh and veggies, it's great.

This is definitely the best indoor grill I have ever used. You do have to follow the instructions and let it come to temperature before you use it but it is worth the wait. Great "charring" and the lid helps cook thick pieces of meat. Having water in the tray also helps keep down the smoke and keeps the meat moist.

I love this grill - it is extremely easy to clean. Truly a non-stick grill unlike my Calphalon grill pan that is very difficult to clean. Works great with chicken and fish and the lid is a wonderful extra feature.

Was skeptical at first, but fell in love with this grill after my initial use. My initial experience was confirmed with each subsequent use. Steaks, hamburgers and chicken grill quickly and thoroughly. All of my meats must be completely cooked, for reasons of personal taste and health, but I do not want them tough or dry. The Delongi accomplishes these goals admirably. It also is quite easy to clean, with all drippings collecting in the large drip pan. Highly recommended.

I have had my grill for a week, we've cooked lean steaks on it, pork chops, and the other night we cooked hamburgers on it. This is my first indoor grill so when one review mentioned the "George Foreman" grill was a bit faster, I was amazed I thought the Delonghi cooked pretty fast!! Clean up was really easy and one MUST remember to preheat it. I gather some have not. And as to smoking I haven't had any but then I buy lean meats and put water in the bottom if I think the food will drip a lot of fat. Fat dripping into the large tray in the bottom is what burns and causes the smoke. I've only used water once, with the hamburgers (no smoking). This really is a great grill and large enough to be more than satisfying (actual cooking space is 15"x11"). Ease and comfort of use is amazing. I highly recommend it!

This is the third Delonghi grill I have owned. The first was very similar to this model in that it had a non-stick surface. It was great. I had to replace it after 2-3 years since the power plug in unit broke. I replaced it with a Delonghi unit that did NOT have a non stick surface. It was impossible to clean. I returned it for a store credit and bought the Perfecto from Amazon on-line. I have used it 2-3 times a week since I got it. It is easy to use, easy to clean and I am very pleased with the unit.

I bought this grill so that I could improve the foods I eat and how they are prepared! My experience is that it doesn't smoke at all - it heats up very well and cooks beautifully. I've cooked steak, chicken, pork chops, fish filets, vegetables, Boca burgers ... and all have been a delight.

I love the no splatter glass lid, the sturdy frame and the hardy grill surface. I have found that, for small amounts of food, if you cook at the end away from the heating control you can submerge that end in dishwater and the mess just wipes away.

I look forward to cooking on this grill and the effort to take care of it is nothing ... especially if you line the drip pan with foil. But even when you forget ... it just wipes clean!!

Very pleased with this product. Food gets nicely grilled and it is faster than using an oven!
I found it best to use it with good ventilation, as it does get a bit smokey. If you have a fan in your kitchen...use it!
The only down side to this...is that it is difficult to clean the grilling surface, which cannot be submerged in water. Wiping it down while it is still hot seems to work the best.

I am very satisfied with this grill; I have also given it as a gift to a relative who also loves it and uses it frequently.

Some of the problems described here (not hot enough, etc.), in my opinion, stem from improper use. Like any grill, you have to let it warm up, before plopping quarter pound hamburgers on it. My daughter over-cooked chicken breasts on it(they looked great (grill lines, etc.) but they were dry)--so the comments here about the heating element not working are simply not true.

I love the glass top that contains spattering; I also line the bottom of the grill (when cooking) with aluminum foil to make clean up easier. The grill itself is something of a pain to clean, but I put mine in the dishwasher and it comes out great.

This grill performs very well, but you have to allow sufficient time for the heating element to get the grill hot and choose the correct heat settings in connection with what you are cooking--not exactly rocket science, but judging from the reviews here, some people obviously find this challenging.

Unfortunately the use of this product is limited. I would not have purchased if I had known that you are unable to cook chicken legs, thighs, wings or any other part other than boneless chicken breast fillets. It certainly does not perform the cooking functions of a true grill in my opinion

Bought this grill for my wife for a Christmas present and we used it twice since then and we were deeply disappointed.The first time we grilled pork chops and steaks and it cooked the inside of the steak and the outside was still raw for the chops it did the same and took forever to cook.The second time we did burgers and it did the same thing , so now we don't want to try a third time.Also the cleanup on the burgers was terrible .I will give it this it's better than the Foreman.

I just got my grill and I couldn't be more pleased with it. It has plenty of heat and is easy to clean. I wanted one with a cover and this one has a glass top that really saves a lot of splatter. It is well built and I have just followed the directions with great results. I especially like the large cooking surface.

The first grill purchased was improperly packaged and broken when received.
The replacement grill was also improperly packaged and broken when received.
The return procedure was frustrating, receiving the same email over and over with no provision for return. Finally found a phone number to customer service who processed return labels.
Then Amazon issued an incorrect credit to my credit card. Requiring more time and phone calls.

The grill may be great, but I will never know--the hassle was not worth pursuing a third time.

Do not buy this grill. I tried to give it zero or negative stars, but the system would not allow that. The grill does not perform as described. It does not get hot enought to sear or brown the meat. I grilled a couple of pork steaks on the grill for over 30 minutes and they never got browned. Instead, there were light brown streaks where they contacted the grill and the rest of the meat just turned an unappetizing dirty gray color. Also, despite the length of time the steaks were on the grill, parts that were not in contact with the grill were not completely done. The manufacturer will undoubtedly say that a person should put the cover on the grill, but then the meat is being steamed rather than grilled and will not brown.
In fairness, I should add that I tried a George Foreman grill and it did not perform any better. In fact, I collected the juice that ran off and put it in a pan. After steaming off all the water that had run off, there was very little fat remaining. It is advertised as a fat-burner, but it is not.
I have a thirty-five year old West Bend radiant heat grill that still performs better than either of these two. Years ago, Farberware also made a radiant heat grill. I realize that there may be safety concerns because the heating element could inflict a severe burn, but I haven't gotten burned in thirty-five years. Please, someone make a radiant heat grill!

I have to say I have an older model of this grill without the glass cover, somthing I wish I had. In either case, the grill has served its purpose in my home. When winter comes we cook just about everything we would cook on the gas grill on this. Best part is, unlike cooking steaks in the oven, the grill doesn't smoke the steaks and set off the fire alarms!

I also put everything in the dishwasher so clean up is a cake walk.

We like it so much we are getting another one this year as a gift for a family member.

I got this grill about a week ago and I love it. First of all the cooking area is BIG.. and wonderful so that you can really cook. I also love how you can adjust the heat setting depending on what you are cooking instead of like my former George where it was 1 temp was supposed to cook all ( which burnt the outside of thick pieces of meat and chicken breast and left the inside way underdone)I also love how the fat drips down immediatly into the tray. On my George ( a big one) the fat would come sort of off one burger and then run into the other burger and stay there without ever going into the tray thing. Clean up is alot easier than George because I can stick all of it except the temp control into the sink or dishwasher to wash. I also like the lid that keeps the food from drying out while cooking and warm before it is served. I will admit it is not as fast as George but honestly the quality of food I cook is so much better b/c it has been cooked right and not just fast. This grill IMO is much more similar to cooking on an outside grill and the taste is better for it. I highly reccomed this product over it's competition, there is no comparrison! Move over George, YOU GO GRILL!
