Over a 20 year period - this has been my 3rd juicer and this one is in a different league all together. Cleanup was the feature that was most important to me after experiencing those other juicers and this Breville JE95XL has not let me down. I've owned it about a month and juice 2-3 days a week with it.

Just like my other juicers it has that 'mesh' basket at the center of the juicing action. But before buying, I had read somewhere that the basket in this one was made of some material and in some fashion which did not result in the near-impossible pulp and debris removal from that mesh screen, which I had hated before. And sure enough - I don't know how they've accomplished it, but this basket brushes clean easily.

I can't speak yet for whether you'll get 5-10 years out of this model, but if easy-clean/simple-assembly is your thing - you could be really happy with this one.

I had the Breville JE95XL juicer for a few months and was quite pleased with it. When my daughter visited from college she loved it and so, it went back to school with her.

After a couple of weeks, she called to say that the unit simply stopped working. (Recently she visited again and brought the unit to me.)

The first thing I did was a web search to see if there might be some helpful hints posted somewhere. I found nothing.

So, I read a number of the low ratings on Amazon for this make and model and found many stories that matched my daughter's experience.

Breville does not make it easy to service this, but it is servicable with a little bit of effort... here's how.

Poor Design, Inexcusable.
For an appliance like a juicer, a manufacturer should expect that users might overtax the motor from time to time. So, the solution they should have employed is a simple "reset" button on the bottom of the unit that will reset the circuit breaker, just like you might have in a garbage disposal.

But no, Breville decides to solder a fuse (the circuit breaker) onto the main board... so, once that fuse is overtaxed and is "blown," the unit, for most owners is useless, and having read some of the reviews here on Amazon, it also seems that Breville's customer service is virtually non-existent.

If you are moderately handy, you can do what I did:

Cut out the old fuse from the circuit board, and onto the wire leads of the old fuse, simply solder the wire leads to a fuse holder.

After that is done, when, and if, the fuse blows again, you can simply open the fuse holder, and replace the fuse after simply removing the bottom of the unit. It's not as good as a "reset" switch on the bottom of the unit, but it works just fine.

All this trouble and customer disappointment for a 35¢ part.

I had to buy a juicer here in the US after buying one for my son in the UK. This was my first choice after reading the reviews and noting the two speed ability.

It is straightforward to use, but most importantly it is straightforward to clean. I havent washed it in the dishwasher yet as it only takes two or three minutes to clean and rinse it out by hand, the mesh screen being the most time consuming cleaning exercise.

I purchased this juicer for my mother in law as a gift. She's a twice daily juicer so I did quite a bit of research before purchasing a product that wouldn't conk out on here in a year. She has been VERY pleased with every aspect of the juicer. It has a very large hopper (about the size of a medium sized apple) so it cuts down on the cutting of everything. Plus the screen extracts much more juice. It is very clean as the pulp goes directly into an enclosed container....no flying pulp spitting out on the counter and wall. And easy clean up. Bottom line is that she loves it as a product. The ONLY DOWNSIDE we found was that she had to find a different place to store it. It is very tall and there fore will NOT fit under your standard sized cabinets on the counter. She likes to have appliances out on the counter that she uses every day, so that was a bit of a bummer...but because of its performance she will certainly deal with it.

I'm really happy with this purchase. I ordered this juicer Wed night, it got to my house on Friday that week. Amazon ROCKS!!! I started juicing right away. This machine has enough power to juice anything, I love the feel of quality, there are no leaks, and juice tastes soooo good. So far I figured out that mixing pineapple with anything makes a great juice. Also things that I never eat like celery, carrots, and beets are a pleasure to juice and they taste great, especially when mixed with fruits. First of all, this thing is much larger than I had thought it would be. I expected something more the size of a normal coffee maker. Instead, I got a machine that's more the size of one of those really tall coffee makers with the thermal caraffe (sp?). It's a monster, but it's awesome! I have had no problems with any pulp being wet, and I've juiced many different fruits and vegetables. I also have had no trouble cleaning any of the parts. For those reviewers who claim that it's difficult to clean, I want to know how many hours they let it sit after use before they try to clean it?! It takes me 5 minutes to juice 6 different kinds of produce and rinse (not scrub) off all but the mesh strainer. That, I swipe a few times with the included scrub brush and it's done! Even when I have been in a hurry and have let the juicer sit fer a few hours, it still is not a big deal to clean. It's also very quiet. The high speed is a bit louder than the low speed, but my six month old (who's afraid of the vaccuum) doesn't even flinch when I turn it on. It also looks very nice on my kitchen counter. Great item and I don't regret my purchase one bit!

Also, I had called the Breville company before I made my purchase to ask them what the difference was between the JE95XL and the JE900 which is twice the price. I was told the the 900 body is made of die-cast stainless steel, while the 95 is chrome-colored heavy duty plastic. The motor and cutting/straining mechanism are all the SAME. If saving a few bucks without sacrificing performance or looks is important to you, go with this model. It's worth every penny and more!

This is the second juicer I have owned. The first was a Juiceman Juicer. Though the Juiceman served its purpose there is absolutely no comparison between the Juiceman Juicer and Brevilles. Brevilles Juice Fountain is far superior for less money. It is extrememly quiet, looks cool, has 2 speeds which really does come in handy, and is much more effecient. Less mess, less time spent juicing and a quick cleaup thanks to the smooth and rounded style design. Honestly I would rate it a 4.5 if it were possible on this website but because it is not, I rounded and gave it a 5. The reason I would give it a 4.5 is because I have noticed as others have stated here, that when juicing beets, there is a slight leakage issue around the pulp shoot area. Not really a biggie as it doesnt make a huge mess, but, it shouldnt leak. Other than that, it is an awesome juicer!

I've owned other juicers, and tried many more. Juicing is absurdly healthy, something I wanted to do every day, but I found that cleaning most juicers takes too long, and that chopping foods and peeling citrus was just too time consuming, and that I abandoned juicing after a few days with most juicers for these reasons. No non-citrus juicer is as easy to clean as I would like, but this is far and away the best out there for a person who wants a juicer it is truly practical to use daily. It is obvious that this is made with loving care by someone who actually juices, rather than just being thrown out by some company to round out a product line. Smooth contours abound, and there is a notable lack of the nodules, nooks, and crannies which trap pulp, and make cleaning a nightmare on other juicers. The huge food input chute is the key thing--it means I don't have to chop apples, carrots, tomatoes, etc, and can just drop them in whole. BIG TIME savings. This juicer is expensive, but in the end it was a bargain because it juicis easily and cleans quickly, finally allowing me to juice every day. The health benefits make the price a bargain, and I view this as an investment in my long term health. Don't let the high price scare you away, you get what you pay for. If you intend to juice oranges, a citrus juicer is mandatory, peeling oranges will drive you crazy.

I really like that someone thought about splatter when designing the unit. So I especially like the lid on the juice container. I sometimes juice in the morning before work, and the cleanup goes real quick. It juices every drop, the pulp is really dry when discarding. So, am very pleased with the juicer.

I have this model and the top of the line stainless steel model. I alternate between the two. I prefer the stainless steel model because it has more power and is more of a solid machine. When I use the JE95XL, sometimes I can hear the motor slowing down when I put an apple in. It sounds like it is about to give out! With the stainless steel model, I never hear the motor slowing down. This juicer is good and I have had just about every kind of juicer on the market. If you can afford it - go ahead and get Breville's top of the line model - around $299.

Bought this for my mom. After using it several times a day for 2 weeks straight, she found that the pulp ie. even with apples at both high and low speed) tended to remain fairly moist. The JE95XL we got from Amazon came in a white/blue box. We thought that maybe we were just unlucky and got a lemon, so we checked out a local store (to remain unnamed) - lo and behold the JE95XL came in a white-grey box there. The cleaning-brush was even a different colour (dark grey in the retail store box vs. light grey in the Amazon box). After trying the second JE95XL (from the retail store), we are convinced the pulp is drier, although STILL not as dry as we had expected given all the glowing reviews above (pulping 7 apples would still yield pulp that we could squeeze out 5 tablespoons of juice with our own fingers). That being said, despite the fact that our old Braun juicer put out much drier pulp, the Breville was definitely faster and saved us a lot of time - enough of an advantage that we will keep the JE95XL for now. The Amazon one unfortunately is going back.

I enjoyed the juicer while it worked, but I think its claims of being able to juice whole apples are rather lofty. The second time I did this, the motor burnt out and I've had to send it back to the manufacturer for replacement. Up until that time, it seemed to work pretty well. Though I only juiced citrus fruits, carrots and apples so far. Hopefully they'll replace it swiftly.

This is the first juicer I have ever used or bought. I found it very easy to use & clean (as long as you do it right away!!!) Do Not let the pulp dry on the screen! It seems very sturdy & it is fun. My family has made a lot of juice since buying this product & I have found so many uses for the pulp. The vegetable juice is hard to find, the right mix & looks a little weird but once you get the hang of it gazpacho & vegetable juices are delicious (refrigerate vegetables firt) & the pulp left over is great as a filler for meatloaf or hamburgers or pasta sauce. Fruit juices are easy & delicious (try a lime w/ tropical fruit, yummy), The product states you can juice small apples whole, they do have to be very small but cutting them in half or quarters isn't hard & that way you can extract the seeds & use the pulp as applesauce for little ones. Bananas cause a mess & you don't really get juice but we used them with other fruits & mixed the pulp back in with the juice for wonderful smoothies! You do get a lot of juice from this machine & my only complaint is you still have to use a lot of fruit for enough juice for more than 1 or 2 people (we have 5 in our family) so it does get expensive but we love this machine. Perfect for a first time juicer or someone who has been juicing for a while. I do have one more secret, to juice leafy things like spinach, ball it up first & if you're using it with something like tomatoes cut the core out of the tomatoe & stuff a ball of spinach inside. You'll get a lot more juice from the greens that way. Also be careful with onions & garlic, you will get loads of fresh onion juice!! It gave me an actual buzz! Worth the money especially if you compare it to other expensive machines or read the reveiws of similar priced ones. I don't normally right reveiws or rave about anything but this product was worth my time!

My Brevile JE95XL wins in all catagories: functional design, aesthetic design, overall quality and performance.

I've worked in quality control and this unit scores higher than most anything I've owned or seen. A simple indicator of quality is the use of a standard toggle switch for power. In the unlikely event you needed to replace it out of warrantee, you can get it at your local electronics or hardware store.

It is amazing how carrots are gobbled up very fast. You barely need the pusher. Apples are harder to push because a blade slices through them as you push which keeps them in place while juicing.

The motor speed ramps up when you turn it on, which keeps the unit from spinning on the counter top.

Clean up is easy because all surfaces are smooth and rounded. You do get carrot stains, but they are not in the plastic. The stains will wipe off with a damp cloth. You have to bleach the fiber container to clean the stains off it, because it's made of low density plactic, or you could insert a plastic bag in it before juicing.

You bet I'm happy!!

I've owned a JE95XL Juice Fountain for a couple years now. I have my standard vegetable juice that I like - 3 stalks of celery, 3 carrots, and a red or orange bell pepper. I found that apples and carrots tend to discolor/stain the plastic. It seems to be a micro-particulate issue as I can take a paper towel and rub the stain off. I've taken care of much of the cleaning issue by lining the pulp bucket with a plastic produce bag, juicing the carrots last (celery and pepper pulp form a protective layer), and rinsing the foam off the juice jug / froth seperator asap. Most times I just scrape the pulp sticking to the inside of the top part into the bag in the bucket, toss the plastic bag in the trash, and rinse the seperator top and bottom parts, scrub the seperator screen under running water (I watch the water sheeting off the screen to see if there are fibers still on the screen), and then re-assemble the whole thing right away. I toss the scrub brush in the pulp bucket before I line it with a fresh plastic bag. About every fourth or fifth time I use some dish soap and give it a little more attention.

The large feeder tube and the froth seperator are definately big selling points for this juicer. I can put all three stocks of celery in at once, a de-stemmed and halved bell pepper (both halves at once), and then all three carrots at once. The motor on high has no problems - I'll only use the motor on low for soft/wet stuff like a tomatoe to aid the extraction process (a lot of wet pulp still ends up hitting the bucket on soft stuff).
I've found that the vegetable foam tends to taste nasty and stain everything - leave it in the juice jug, add a little water to rinse it down and pour it gently down the drain - minimize the splash in the sink and you won't have to clean the sink.

I leave my Juice Fountain out on the counter top and it is convienent enough to use every day. I enjoy having my glass of fresh vegetable juice in the morning - the whole process take me 10-15 minutes and is a delicious and healthful part of my diet.

This is a very good juicer that is the best value for money you will find. The motor is incredibly strong and doesn't blink an eye at beets, apples, whatever. Cleanup is easy too. You just have to make sure and put enough fruit/veg through the machine at once or it tends to dribble down the side of the machine after coming out of the spout. But not a major problem.

I read all the reviews for this juicer and still thought- okay considering Breville's customer service is reviewed as very good then why not go for it?
We encountered the same problems as most-- the motor went out after using it 3-4 times. It just wouldn't even turn on and no sound--perhaps their power cord malfunctions or something since we checked and double checked on various outlets in the house. Also we checked to make sure all the pieces were correctly positioned. Breville was really great-sent us a new one and all we had to do was fedex the old one right back. They paid for the shipping and even supplied the box as ours was tossed.
Onto the actual juicer, it works really well although for oranges, if you do leave the peel on the OJ can be quite bitter. Other than that, nothing else we juiced seemed to cause any problems. Mainly, carrots, apples etc.. These were with skin on. For convienance, just having to wash the fruit or veggie and plopping it in, this juicer is fantastic. Now they just have to work out the glitch in the motor. Like I said before, it's not to do with burning it out with heavy skinned fruit but more likely a power thing since we didn't even get a hum like if the electric was going through.

I just got this today, and i have already juiced 10lbs of apples, 5lbs of oranges, 1 melon, and 1lb of carrots. its held up to the best of my expectations so far!!

I love how it gives you the idea to use a produce bag that you get free from the grocer to put over the pulp container...that way all you have to do is lift out the bag and you dont have to clean up any of the pulp container!!

the only thing i would say is that of the fruit i did, the orange pulp was still a lil wet, but not enough to be able to squeeze anything out of...produced about twice as much juice as my old manual citrus press...and in about 1 tenth of the time!!!

excelent juicer, i just hope it continues to hold up to my expectations...

I bought a Breville JE95 in 9/05, used it everyday for 10 mths then all of a sudden the motor went. I loved this juicer, however, if this compnay cannot make a product that lasts longer than 10 mths under normal every day usage, I'm taking my biz elsewhere. After looking around quite bit, this juicer is what we finally decided on, its worth the price and it is really the best. The pulp is juiceless in the end, you get all the juice out of the fruits. We do apple, carrots, celery, oranges, everything that can be juiced and it does it really well. The jar is big enough for 4-5 glasses of juice. Though it has big jars, they are easy to clean and manage. We serve fresh juice to friends and relatives and they simply love the taste. this juicer is pretty good (esp. for the $) - i've been using it every day (to make yummalicious green lemonade) since i received it & it's still going strong. I have really enjoyed this juicer. It is so easy to use. I love that you can drop in whole fruits and veggies, such as tomatoes, apples, and peeled oranges. The prep work is minimal! The high speed of this juicer extracts maximum juice from the veggies and fruits; the pulp is very dry.

I purchased this juicer on the merits of the high reviews it recieved. For my first foray into juicing I wanted something easy to use and easy to clean up. I didn't want something that would take up a lot of space or be too heavy to lug around.
This juicer fits the bill to a "t".

Since this is my first juicer I can't comment on the power. It seems to do just fine w/the veggies/fruits I have used in it. I love that the pulp is very easily contained with very little mess. The juice spout also comes with a pitcher with a lid and foam strainer. I have noticed very little foam but don't know if this depends on the fruit or the juicer.

Clean up is a breeze. Of course, there are four or five parts (if you use a plastic bag under the pulper you don't need to wash it)however, if I wash them right away (within 1/2 hour) it's fairly easy. Included is a long handled brush to clean up the sharper more intricate parts of the blade. I wash in the sink, but these are dishwasher safe.

Tucks easily in my cupboard taking up very little room. Lightweight, but substantial.

In all, easy easy easy and I love it!!

It's pretty hard to get a five star rating with me, and since this is my first juicer I couldn't give it a five as I had nothing to base it on...and frankly, I've used it only about five or six times....

I recently purchased a je95XL juice extractor and i have to say I am very pleased. I try to juice once a day, sometimes twice to maintain my energy and organ health. I have used the juiceman 2 and the smaller , less durable braun juicer and this one blows both out of the water in terms of performance. My first day using it i smelled a slight odor of electrical circuits working, but this dissipated shortly and didn't occur again. It's been about two weeks and 12 juicings later.The large opening is able to swallow medium sized apples, oranges and three to four carrots at a time. The motor actually speeds up a bit when feeding the items into the throat. turning the machine on there is a tiny delay, as in a turbo of a car engine, but once wound up, it does its job well. The first setting is quiet, much better than the previous juicers i had. The second setting it sounds like a sports car or jet engine, not loud, but you definitely know its going to chop up some serious roughage. The pulp waste after juicing is near dry, meaning i get more out of the fruit than before. It makes me look forward to keeping my regimen of healthy eating. very nice product ! We received the juicer about a week ago and are very happy with it. The unit looks and feels solid and does an outstanding job in making a lot of juice very quickly.

While the unit has many features that appealed to us, the two features that we enjoy most are how quickly it makes juice and how very easy it is to clean. You can easily fill the pitcher in less than 30 seconds (e.g.: 3 apples / 2 stalks celery / 2 large carrots / 1 pear) and the pulp is barely moist to the touch. And by using a plastic grocery bag in the pulp bin cleanup is a snap - tossing the bag and rinsing out the mixer and pitcher takes all of a minute (if you do it right away).

I plan on writing an update to this review in several months since some of the other reviews I read prior to puchasing this unit mentioned problems with the motor not working - either out of the box or after a couple of months of use. So far though I have to say that the juicer is working like a champ.

Received a strong endorsement for the Breville JE95XL from a friend who had tried various other juicers. I was cautioned to buy the 850W motor, not JE900 model with the 600W motor. I bought the Breville JE95XL juicer for my 70-yr old mother whose main experience using a small appliance was with a blender. In ten minutes, I was able to teach my mother how to use and to clean the juicer. Now my mother juices frequently.

I read the other reviews citing problems with the motor so I decided to wait to see if my mother would have problems. A month later with no problems so I purchased a juicer for myself. Two months of juicing two fresh juice glasses every day and my Breville has still been performing well.

The following juiced well - oranges, apples, carrots, grapes, watermelon, pineapple, strawberries, mangoes, lemons, grapefruits.

The following did not juice as well probably because they were too soft - peaches, canteloupe, bartlett pears, kiwis.

POSITIVES:
- Large chute so less cutting
- Few pieces to clean
- Easy clean up - mainly rinse and use included brush to clean the mesh
- Pulp comes out relatively dry

IMPROVEMENT NEEDED:
- Could be a bit quieter
- Would like to be able to juice directly into a glass, but the centrifugal force spits the juice out so you definitely need to to use the pitcher to avoid juice all over the counter
- Too much foam created when juicing, but don't know if that is common with juicers. The pitcher has a piece included that allows you to filter out the foam from the juice.

JUICE BOOKS:
I also purchased "Ultimate Juicing" and "The Juicing Bible". I used "Ultimate Juicing" more. If you plan to become totally immersed in the "health" aspect of juicing then you may like "The Juicing Bible", but be ready to buy and juice items you normally might not have readily available. "The Juicing Bible" does have an informative section on herb, vegetable, and fruit profiles as well as common ailments and recommended remedies for each.

I hope my juicer continues to perform. I love having fresh juices. I want others to enjoy juicing as well so I intend to buy some juicers as Christmas gifts.

I accidentally put the food pusher piece on the bottom shelf of my dishwasher on high temp cycle and melted part of it. It warns you to only put parts on top shelf and I did it anyway (my fault). I was able to get good juice out of this juicer the first and second times I used it. I got about 30-40 ml juice per large carrot I juiced. I am not sure if another juicer can make more juice and reduce wastage. Anyway the juicer's motor died during the third session. After 1 carrot, the juicer stopped. It was obvious from their response that the motor dying is a constant problem. They would not refund; they said they would replace it with a new one. When I first obtained the juicer it performed without any flaws at all and thought I had puchased an item that would last me for years.

This jucier had to be replaced within 60 days. During jucing a beet the big 850 watt motor just stopped as if it had been unpluged.

I just wanted to briefly add my personal endorsement for this product because I have enjoyed it so much. I won't try to recreate all the wonderful things already said about this juicer by other people here, but I will tell you that they are ALL TRUE. I also looked at the LaLane juicer at my local wholesale club for $99.00 and the Breville makes it look like a poorly designed, cheap toy, and for not much more money. The design of this machine makes it do its job extremely well, easy to clean, and a pleasure to use. I have experienced NONE of the few negative things posted here, which brings me to the apples. If you buy the ultra engineered, non organic, super apples at the grocery store then of course they won't fit in without cutting BUT if you buy a bag of organic apples, like you should be because thats why we are juicing is to improve our health and get rid of nasty things like pesticides, waxes, chemicals etc. then they will fit. You will probably want to cut your apples anyway because the seeds of apples contain very small quantities of cyanide and you are supposed to remove them before juicing anyway. I recommend 2 books to go with this machine, "The Juicing Bible" by Pat Crocker and "The Complete Book Of Juicing" by Michael T. Murray N.D. Get these 3 items and you will have all you need to make one of the most positive health changes in your life.

I just wanted to add this update for Breville customer service. After dropping my filter bowl surround it cracked. Yes I dropped it . . it was my fault . . I called Breville customer service to buy another one. The rep that came on the phone was very friendly, intelligent and courteous. I told her how much I loved my juicer but I had dropped and cracked the filter bowl and needed to buy a new one and she said no problem and SHE SENT ME A NEW ONE FOR FREE!!!!! They didnt even charge me for shipping! I was totally blown away. I said are you sure? I'm the one that broke it, its not the products fault and she said that it was cool and they would send it out that day. Well they did and I got it a few days later and wow . . all I can say is I love this juicer and Breville customer service has exceeded my expectations. They have a customer for life.

I'd never heard of Breville but this is a nice appliance. Be careful when you align the lid with the pulp receptacle, if it's not aligned correctly you'll be hit by a thin but stinging stream of ejected pulp.

Overall it works QUITE well. The motor slowly ramping up is a nice feature. The industrial design is impressive. It's easy to clean. The taste of fresh juice is arresting, I can't believe I haven't tasted anything like it before, it's really great! I'm excited about being able to easily add vegetables I wouldn't otherwise prepare to my diet. I made some tomato-celery-carrot-spinach juice last night and it tasted fantastic! And it was filling!

The manual and cookbook that come with the juicer contains plenty of recipes -- you won't need a separate cookbook.

The price was excellent, but it was made in China. I'd be willing to pay more for a product manufactured in the USA. Good product, buy it, you'll be pleased.

Aug 06: I'm sorry to report that the motor in my juicer died all at once, too. I'm looking into getting it repaired.

I received this item today, and I was soooo excited to use! Healthy life, healthy choice!

SO far so good. I tried to make juice with things I have in my fridge. I had a couple of apples and blueberries. I mixed them and it was okay ( maybe not the perfect mixing combination, though).

It went very smoothly and it didn't make any unbearble loud sound. Juice didn't make much foams, and I liked that.

One thing I didn't like was that I had cut my apples for juicing. The apple I used was just regular size apple. It was not big at all. But still, I had to cut for fitting them in that juicer.
So, "juices Apple whole!" is not true... Sorry, Breville.

overall, this juicer is good to buy. I'll come back if I found something wrong with this juicer later. SO far, it is very good.

This juicer is great! I am new to juicing and was looking for a juicer which was both relatively inexpensive, but would withstand possible daily use. I researched the subject quite extensively and decided to get the Breville JE95XL. My other choice would have been the Jack Lalanne Juicer. I am VERY glad I chose the Breville! It is of a much better quality and only slightly more expensive. Not to mention the fact the Lalanne only has a 90 day product warranty (only motor has lifetime) and the Breville has a full year. The JE95XL has a significantly higher output motor as well. I tried out the JE95XL like an excited child getting a new toy! Apples, oranges, celery, and carrots were my first experiments; the machine turned them into juice in seconds! The filter on this machine is very good (fine stainless steel mesh) so your juice is grit free. Clean up was easy too. Everything, except the motor base of course, went right into the dishwasher. EASY! Another thing I like about this juicer is how quiet it is. On the low setting you can have a normal conversation to a person standing next to you. The motor has a graduated start-up, which is found in higher quality products. Although the majority of the juicer is made of plastic I find it to be a thicker, heavier gauge than some of the other "paper thin" appliances out there. I see no problem using this daily for a long time before needing a new one. If you are looking for a juicer that is both high quality and relatively inexpensive this is PERFECT!

The motor dies very fast on this machine. I purchased it for Christmas. After using it about 10 times in 2 weeks (on oranges, apples, cabbage, carrots) the engine gave in. I thought it had been the carrots' fault or maybe the engine had overheated.

After I contacted customer service they replaced the juicer for me in about 20 days - no questions asked. This time I decided to be more careful. I took into account the the maximum 3 minutes of continuous use allowed, I cooled the kitchen so that the engine would stay at a low temperature. After juicing 3 carrots through the machine the motor stoped working - the second "defunct" juicer.

I called the customer support and today I have received my third juicer. Great, I thought! I processed one single cabbage leaf before the juicer stopped working. This is frustrating and I plan on returning the juicer altogether for a refund.

The customer support was very nice throughout my experience with this particular juicer but unfortunately I believe the machine is not designed properly. (I have a Braun epilator and I remember I had overused it once and it stopped working. However, when I tried it later on it ran perfectly. I am assuming the electric epilator had a thermostat or some system to protect the engine.) Unfortunately this is not the case with this juicer. The engine died very easy, despite the fact that I had been very careful not to strain it. After all 3 juicers I had tried have died randomly and without warning I think there's a high probablility the next one will too. Thus, I am now ready to move on to a different manufacturer. When I find a better juicer I'll edit this post and let you know! :)

Usually stuff from China tends to be flimsy but this unit was so SOLID and well-manufactured that you'd think it came from Germany. I did some research prior to making this purchase....this juicer seemed to be the best bang for the buck...As with most products there were positive and negative comments online but I thought it was a good buy....I am not disappointed....It is very fast and pumping out juice...the large shoot makes it possible to put larger pieces of fruit so there is not as much cutting involved....the foam separator is good but I usually don't use it because I put my juice in a thermos to take to work and the foam goes away after awhile....
At first my wife didn't like the juicer, preferring out old Champion but she has begun to use it and seems to like it just fine.
Clean up is quick and fairly easy.
The one drawback to it is that it doesn't handle leafy veggies such as spinach very well....for that you need a different juicer...We have three juicers in the house so it is not a major issue for us....it works well for most of the juices we drink.....and we drink quite a bit of juice....

I recently went on a Daniel Diet and wanted to implement fresh juices in the fast, so I researched juicers. This juicer is by far the best quality and price. I use the juicer every morning for my husband and myself (instead of the usual coffee). I and my son are new to juicing. We love this juicer and are juicing regularly since clean up is so easy. I still own a $2,000.00 Norwalk Press (juicer) and have owned two $150 and under juicers. After getting married, my 60 pound Norwalk never made it to the countertop. I actually stopped using the Norwalk about a year before because of all the prep and cleaning that went into using that juicer. The desire to drop about 15 pounds and to just eat healthier put me on a "buy a new juicer" qwest. I drove myself crazy reading every review of every $75 to $250 juicer I could find. I eventually narrowed my search down to three juicers.

I wanted little to no food prep time; and I wanted the machine to be as easy as possible to clean. Thirdly, I wanted a machine that was built well enough to at least last several years with daily use. I settled on this machine because Breville has won several design awards with their various products; and this juicer has a 3" round opening to feed the fruits and vegetables through (larger carrots are close to 2 inches in diameter). I was disappointed that this juicer only has a one year warranty; but I figured that was long enough for it to break through daily use if it was going to break. (Heck, I broke a Jack LaLane juicer in under a month.) I was expecting to just "like" this juicer and figured I would probably want something better in a year or two.

Well, Amazon got this to me in just three days during the holiday season. I immediately unpacked the unit and gave the four parts that touch the juice a quick wash. I lined the pulp catcher with a 4-gallon trash bag and I was ready to go. As I went to plug this juicer in I received my first pleasant surprise. My electrical outlets in the kitchen are so tight they are a pain to use and are the reason I never unplug anything if I can help it. This unit has an award winning electrical plug that your finger fits through and that allowed me to use the outlets in my kitchen without any hassle. Next I powered the unit on, and it starts out slow. Even at the higher speed, this unit is much quieter than the Jack LaLanne Power juicer I previously owned. The slower setting still juices carrots, apples, and celery just fine and is quiet enough to juice even after my young children have gone to bed. I have read about many juicers which "walk" across your counter when turned on; but this unit does not do that at all. Within seconds I had enough juice for all four of us in my family.

After drinking my juice, I decided to immediately clean the juicer (probably about 5 minutes after juicing). I popped the unit apart, and let the blade/basket set under running water while I quickly washed the other parts. When I got to the basket it was fairly clean just from the running water. This basket does not have a plastic upper rim like most of the other juicers I have seen; and so it cleans up quickly with the nylon brush that comes with the machine. I'd say within two minutes all was cleaned up and I was off to another task.

This juicer is well made, handles the pre-bagged apples I buy at my supercenter without any cutting, runs quieter than I expected, and is easier to clean up than I really expected. I am VERY happy with my purchase of this Breville juicer. My wife and kids like it so much, that by the end of day two it had a permanent place on our kitchen counter.

If you look at the earliest reviews (from 2002) concerning this juicer, a couple of units arrived DOA; but since then all the reviews have been great. I am told this is the best selling juicer currently here on Amazon, and if true it does not surprise me. I do not plan to juice lettuce or other leafy greens. No juicer like this will do that well. If you want a juicer that is easy to use, easy to clean, and is well made you will love this Breville JE95XL. It does not surprise me that Breville has won several design awards for thei products.

This juice extractor is perfect for my needs. I have made a lot of juices in it (mostly vegetable mixtures), and they always come out great.

The juicer is pretty easy to clean, as all the parts separate easily and there aren't too many nooks and crannies. Most of the parts are dishwasher safe, but I usually wash it by hand.

The chute is very large, and I can typically fit whole vegetables or fruits in it without slicing first. This may be a problem if kids are going to be operating the juicer, as they may be able to get an arm inside. But it's very convenient.

The only negative thing I have to say is that it is pretty noisy - but it really doesn't bother me, as it does such a great job.

Today i spoke to April at Amazon customer service and told her about it and she is sending a replacement. Also spoke with Breville after Amazon and Tamara from Breville also offered to send a juice jug. The product using my own container works great,I made apple juice (delicious) This replaces a juicer I paid 20 bucks for a few weeks ago at a local store that works fine but had a narrow chute and the amount of juice from it ,my impression is less then one half what the je95xl extracts.This alone is cost effective and justifies the investment in a 850 watt product as opposed to a 450 watt or less product. Since I am getting a new package from Amazon,I suggested to TAmara from Brevile that i will wait for it. I am a happy camper with the Product and the Wonderful attitude in customer service from Breville and Amazon.

On the whole this is a very good juicer, especially for hard fruits and vegetables. It is terrific with apples. However, by nature of its type, it is not good at soft fruits.

The way this juicer works is that it shreds food quickly and relies on centrifugal force to separate the pulp from the juice. You are supposed to feed food in while it is running, and it goes very fast - so fast that there is no opportunity to put any squeezing action on by the plunger. Even on the slow speed, it's really too fast.

I have a large number of fruit trees and have tried a variety of foods in it. For stone fruits, you must remove the stone first. Through trial and error, I found that it worked better to just juice peaches in a blender instead. Grapes and berries did not work well at all - half of the juice went into the pulp. I do not use this juicer for them. Apples and pears work brilliantly. That pulp comes out very dry, and I usually make a tasty apple bread with it.

You can put whole (non-stone) fruit in, but if you have any worries that the fruit has bugs or decay you might want to take the time to cut them out and keep them out of your juice (or pulp). Similarly, if your food has a bitter skin or other bitter parts, take the time to cut it away before juicing.

It is very fast. I always spent more time washing and/or prepping fruit than juicing. It comes with a handy brush for cleaning. It is perfect for making one or two glasses at a time. You can feed assorted fruits in willy-nilly and end up with a tasty blend every time. My toddler loves the juice from the machine, and also begs for the popsicles I make from the leftovers.

If you want to make larger quantities (more than a small pitcher), or if you are working with soft fruit, you should investigate other types of juicers that use a pressing action. Look for a cider press or for another pressing type juicer intstead of one of these centrifugal types.

I have other juice extractor that I used only once or twice and was disappointed. I took the chance with this unit and was surprised on how much I enjoy juicing now. The wide chute means I don't need to spend a lot of time chopping up the veggie/fruit which cuts down on the mess. Does a great job extracting all the juice. It comes with a brush so the mesh is easy to clean. It takes me about 5-7 minutes to clean all the pieces and have them ready to go for the next time. The bonus pitcher separates the juice from the froth. The unit is big and will take up counter space.

This juicer was given as a gift. I have always wanted my own but was not all that impressed with the few that I have been exposed to. They seemed to take too much time for preparation and for cleanup.
When this arrived on my door step my first reaction was "wow, this box is huge."
After unpacking and setting up, this juicer was huge, and I was concerned it might me too big and I would end up not using it.
I was wrong. After using and cleaning the first time we were hooked. It is easy to use and most importantly, it is easy to clean up. We juice all the time and couldn't imagine not having it. To make enough juice for two takes about 2 minutes. We love carrot, apple, ginger, and lime juice. I have even used it to make a poaching juice for baked salmon.
I recomend this juicer without reservation.

I used to have a Juiceman Jr. and used it until it broke. With the Juiceman I had to cut up all my veggies before putting them into the hopper. I decided upon the Breville after reading all the juicer reviews. I wanted something that was easy to use and easy to clean. This unit is all that! It powers through anything I put in it and can take whole tomatoes and large carrots etc. I have found that I need to use the low setting only for vegetables. I haven't juiced fruit yet. This unit will spit out some finer veggies (parsley, small tomatoes, ginger root etc.) before it extracts the juice. This is why I took off a star. If you sandwich the smaller veggies between things like carrots and cucumbers, it will slow the blade down enough to take the juice from the finer veggies. Otherwise for the money, this is a fantastic juicer and because clean-up is easy, you'll want to use it frequently. This unit is pretty tall compared to the Juiceman, so it is good to have a tall cupboard to store it in.

Before I bought this juicer I read on this forum that Breville support sucked. When my juicer arrived damaged (the spout was broken off), I absolved that I would need to return it to Amazon. However, I decided to throw caution in the wind and try to contact Breville. I got someone on the second ring, she was polite and helpful - all she needed was my address and product number and she shipped the part out to me the next day. That's what I call service!

As for the blender, I've tried it and it works really well - so much better than the champion juicer I had before. The juice is extremely pulp-free, and it seems to extract most of it. Wonderful!

After wearing out two juicers in the $50-75 range over the last few years, I learned that the most important features for me are (1) large chute, (2) easy to clean, and (3) powerful motor. After a week of on-line research, I settled on this Breville. IT IS FABULOUS!

I buy local apples, which tend to be smaller than the grocery giants, and they truly do fit in the chute whole. The only cutting I do is to get rid of the carrot ends. I can't believe I spent so much time cutting EACH carrot into thirds to fit into my old machine when this one will take 3-4 at a time!

I use plastic bags to line the pulp bin, and there's very little pulp or mess to clean inside the juicer. Another great feature is that the mesh basket pops right out, while I had to wrestle with the one in my old machine. The Breville motor revs up to speed and zooms through a 5-lb bag of carrots in a jiffy. The only "drawback" is having to watch the pulp bin and pitcher so they don't overflow - everything happens so quickly!

I'm so impressed with the quality of this product that I'm going to replace my old blender with a Breville. YIPEE.

I have just received and operated the Breville JE95XL, selecting it over other brands of comparable price. Without the shadow of a doubt, it does have an excellent power output. As an engineer, however, there are some points that I'd like to point out about the design; those are summed as follows:

1) Juicer may benefit from a motor housing improved cooling air channels designs so as to prevent cooling air from carrying inducted motor smell into the juice. This is not a funny little problem, and should not have been overlooked.
2) Frumpy appearance far from being esthetically appealing especially in a modern kitchen setting.
3) Flimsy outer components put together in the most of flimsy configuration making it impossible to move the entire assembly freely. This can easily be remedied by adding a containment base in which components may be fittingly seated.
4) Rotating micro-mesh filter can benefit from an extended height above the rim of the plastic cover housing to prevent pulp from being thrown over the rim and into the juice.
5) A rubberized insulating ring between the base of the upper assembly and the top of the motor housing may add an incredible improvement to sound, vibration, stability and further insulating juicing from power plant.
6) Made in China with inferior plastic housing and sell for the same price as an American-made juicers is rather perplexing! One would expect the US importer and distributor to insist on better materials and better esthetically appealing design.
Apart from all that, it is a power bonanza compared to the available competing products, the quality of which, as far as I am concerned, can only be determined after a few months of usage.
With the exception of reliability since I have not had a chance to determine it, I rate the Breville JE95XL 3 on a scale from 1 to 5.

Here is my purchase history: I bought the new version of the Breville, only to be sent the old version...I contacted amazon and the customer rep quickly sent me the new version (the 2-speed model) and I returned the old one.

I then bought my father one, and he left it unopened for awhile. When he decided to finally use the juicer, he realized it was dead upon arrival. I contacted customer service again, letting them know that Breville customer service was impossible to get through, let alone get a response...so amazon's customer rep Rebecca decided to send us out a new one...The strange thing is that I was sent two different emails with 2 different replacement orders. However, when both boxes arrived, one contained the Breville juicer replacement, the other was a Rival skillet!!! I contacted cust. service and again, got Rebecca, who deducted that she must have mistakenly clicked the "reorder/replacement" button twice, but that amazon.com sent me one replacement and an incorrect item--the Rival skillet rather than the "2nd replacement". She gave me clear instructions on how to return both the original broken Breville juicer and the Rival skillet so that I won't be mistakenly charged for the 2 "replacement orders." Of course, I quickly returned both to ensure that this won't happen...

This whole process was a nightmare and you would think that someone like me who experienced this would vow never to shop at an on-line store that makes these kinds of mistakes...But the truth is that amazon.com's customer service is so excellent that I would risk shopping here more so than other on-line places...Here's to excellent amazon customer service, but an OK juicer...I've read the reviews on here and it seems like I'm not the only one experiencing break-downs of this machine...Perhaps the older version was a more stable one?

OK I got this juicer just as soon as it came out. I read all the reviews of all the juicers I could find, and it was clear that Breville was the best way to go. I'll just say it is good quality without drooling all over about it...

PRO'S:

~motor cannot run if parts are not locked together (for safety reasons)
~product has few angles and many curves, which makes cleaning easier since pulp/juice can be hard to reach where there are corners
~two speeds: fast for power, slow for soft items
~it really can make 8oz juice in 5 seconds!
~huge food chute can accomodate an entire apple... you save time not needing to cut many things pre-juicing.

CON'S:
~tomatoes - even on slow setting, the juicer doesn't effeciently grab all the juice of a tomato. perhaps do tomatoes first, then recycle the 'pulp' back through juicer to get more juice
~even though the plastic is durable and dark colored (to distract against discoloration) carrots do tend to stain it immediately.

The con's are really quite trivial but I thought I should mention them since I was expecting pure perfection based on the reviews I read. I love the product and I would not swap it for anything. Besides, it is extremely affordable for what you get out of it!

I have tried the Jack LaLanne Power juicer, the Breville JE900 (previous model) and this model. By far this one is the best one! First of all, the Jack LaLanne Power juicer had less power than the Breville series, and also the metal mesh screen had bigger holes. So a lot of the times, the juice produced wasn't really smooth. Because it was white it stained easily if you make a lot of carrot juice. Also, cleanup was more work because you have to unscrew the juicing blade every time for a cleanup.

Now onto the Breville series. Quick and easy cleanup, fine mesh screen so the juice is much more smoother, and more power! What makes the JE95XL better than the JE900 is mainly the two speed control. With the JE900, it was so powerful and fast all the time that when I juiced soft fruits like grapes and strawberries, the fruit wouldn't be juiced all the way. Sometimes, I find half-juiced grapes in the pulp container. So I got a lot less juice with the softer fruits. Also, once you turn it on, it goes full blast! So the juicer would move around on my counter.

With the JE95XL, the speed control allows me to use lower speeds for the softer fruits, and also they changed the motor so that once you turn it on, it starts slow than ramps up. This way the juicer doesn't move around when you turn it on. Also, the pitcher has a better lid, that allows you to keep the lid on while you're juicing. By far, this unit is the best juicer I've used.

I love this juicer! Just got in a few days ago and have used it at least 5 times! It is definitely an upgrade from the older model the JE 900. It has more powerful motor, a bigger chute and a better cup. The cup has a froth serperater which is awesome, since I hate froth. As far as juicing goes it works PERFECTLY! The best tasting juice I had. Don't bother with the other brands, none can fit a WHOLE apple(must be small to medium size) through it's chute which is a HUGE deal since you will be making fresh apple juice. I will never ever buy juice from the store, fresh is the way to go!
